Have you been looking for something different in your spiritual walk? Would you like to experience a deeper spiritual connection with the Divine and with others? Do you love to sing? Would you like to use your voice as an instrument of healing? Then, this may be the group for you!
Often we were told as children that we could not sing well (some were even told not to sing!), and that damaged something within us that continues to yearn to sing out. SpiritSong may be what you’ve been looking for!
SpiritSong is a safe space for women to come together in a spiritual practice expressed through song, regardless of singing ability. We are not a performance group. Music-reading ability is not required. We sing in a circle simple toning, chanting, rounds and songs that we learn together by “rote” as well songs as that arise spontaneously (improvised songs). We have times of silence as well as times of singing. What happens between the notes is as much a part of the music as the notes themselves, and the silence has much to teach us.
This is an ecumenical experience. All faiths are welcome. We meet the second Thursday of each month, from 7-8:30 pm at Conversations. Spirit Song began in the fall of 2016 as a soul-care group, and then became a Threshold Choir chapter for a couple of years. After taking off nearly a year due to COVID-19, we are changing our focus back to being a soul-care group. This group is led by Lisa Wynn, a contemplative musician who has been leading spirituality-based groups and vocal groups of various sizes for over 30 years.
