"Image based journaling uses visual images, word images through poetry and metaphors to ignite the imagination and bypass linear thinking. When we work from an image with a beautiful question about our life, we open ourselves to surprising answers and new directions that create forward motion. This is a very dynamic process that is hard to explain, but when you're in it you are in the flow." Pat Webb
"Humans produce in art the images the soul needs to see itself
and to allow its own transformation." -Carl Jung
"Imaginal knowing is the only way that the unconscious can move into the consciousness. It happens through fantasy, through dreams, through symbols, where all is "thrown together". It happens through pictures, events, and well-told stories." Richard Rohr
We gather once a month around a theme that coincides with the season we are currently in. For example, the theme for October was "Harvest". I provide quotes and usually some poetry to help us center around the theme. Boxes of images from magazines and other sources are provided for you to discover and create whatever message your soul has for you around this theme. It is always a surprise. It is simple and very individual. No right way, no wrong way. It isn't about art. No comparing. It is about listening to the direction within your soul.
We spend usually 1 1/2 hours allowing you to create however you are led in your journal. Then we gather at the end and invite you to share, if you desire. No pressure, just invitation.
Please bring your own journal. Hand Sanitizer will be provided for you to use after handling the pictures. Seating will be spaced apart from each other to allow social distancing. Temperature will be taken upon entering Conversations. Masks will be required. Reservations required. We need to prepare for adequate spacing and a room limit of 12 is in place for all meetings at Conversations. For reservations, please contact Janet McEwin through the link below.
